Hair Mask to Bring Back Curls

Have your curls pulled a Houdini? In response to excessive chemical or heat damage, curls are known to disappear. When your curls are gone, the main thing on your mind is how you’re going to get them back. One of the best ways to bring back your curls is to use a specialized hair mask. In this article, we’ll share with you a couple of hair masks that can restore your hair to its former glory.

Hair Masks to Restore Your Curls

Hair masks are full of goodies that nourish your hair inside and out. And some of the best hair masks for curl rejuvenation are DIY remedies. Let’s get into some hair masks that’ll make your curls reappear.

Aloe Vera and Castor Oil Hair Mask

Aloe vera and castor oil are known for their spectacular hair hydration and rejuvenation properties. For this mask, you’ll need about an ounce of aloe vera gel, an ounce of extra virgin coconut oil, and an ounce of castor oil. Combine all of the ingredients in a bottle and apply the mixture to your damp hair in sections. Put on a processing cap and wait about 15 minutes. After the time is up, rinse your hair thoroughly with warm water. For the best results, harvest the aloe vera gel from a real aloe vera plant.

Honey, Egg, and Avocado Hair Mask

This banana, egg, and avocado hair mask is another great pick. The egg injects protein into your hair, the avocado is full of hair-loving antioxidants, and honey draws moisture into the hair. These ingredients, in addition to coconut oil and olive oil, improve your hair’s elasticity and bring your curls back to life.

Here are the ingredients:

  • 1 avocado
  • 1 egg
  • Half a banana
  • 1 tbsp of coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp of honey
  • 1 tbsp of olive oil (extra virgin)

To make the hair mask, combine the above ingredients in a bowl. Apply the mixture to your damp hair and leave it on for 30 minutes to an hour. Then wash and condition your hair.

Yogurt and Oil Mask

Yogurt is a well-known moisturizer that’s been credited with restoring many women’s curls. To give it a try, put 1 cup of yogurt, an ounce of olive oil, and a tbsp of coconut oil in a bowl. Blend the ingredients, and then apply the mask to your hair in sections. Leave the mask on for 30 minutes, and then wash it out with shampoo. Follow the shampoo up with a conditioner, and then continue with your normal hair routine.

The Limitations of Hair Masks

If your hair has been fried to oblivion, you may worry whether it may be too late to get your curls back. A hair mask can help, but we should warn you that there’s no way to tell whether it will work for you. The more severe the damage is, the lower your chances of reviving your old curls. If you have sections of hair that are completely straight, the only option may be to grow your hair out and gradually cut off the straight pieces. Still, we recommend that you give one of the hair masks in this article a try - there’s nothing to lose and everything to gain!
