How to Get Rid of Hat Hair
Is hat hair driving you crazy? You’re not alone. It’s an extremely common issue that many haven’t figured out how to address. Thankfully, there are many tried and true techniques that you can use to get rid of it fast, and we’ll get into each of these methods in this article.
Fluff It Out
When your hat hair situation isn’t super obvious, your hands are the perfect solution to fix it. Fixing the hat hair shape with your hands takes just a few seconds:
-
If your hair is curly, flip your head over and use your hands to lift your roots. The key is to make them a bit messy. The frizz and texture will help to camouflage that dreaded hat line.
-
If your hair is straight, shake your hair out and then finger-comb your hair downward. It will make the hat’s line of demarcation a little less noticeable.
Note that this method will not work perfectly for every instance of hat hair. You may need to do more to get rid of it. Keep reading for a more involved solution.
Use Texturizing Powder (Dry Hair)
When hat hair strikes, texturizing powder is a godsend, especially when you have straight or wavy hair. The texturizing powder will give your hair more shape and disguise the unnatural shape. To use texturizing powder, you’ll need to:
-
Dispense a bit of texturizing powder on your hair. Focus on your roots and any sections that the hat has flattened.
-
Use your fingers to fluff up your strands. Don’t overfluff.
-
If you have a comb, use it as needed to restyle your hair into its previous shape.
Switch Your Part
Another quick way to fix hat hair is to switch your part to the other side. Simply part your hair with your pinky finger and then finger-comb it in the opposite direction. Doing so will make the hat’s indentations much less prominent. If needed, use a little water and your fingers to reshape your hair further.
Use Water to Reshape Your Hair
Water may be the exact thing you need to reshape your hair. The water will make your strands pliable and relax the hat shape. Here’s what you need to do for this method:
-
Wet your fingers and rub the area that’s been flattened by your hat. Don’t waterlog it - it just needs to be damp.
-
Wet the rest of your hair and then scrunch to get an intentionally messy look.
-
Allow your hair to air dry.
Note: Water can cause more harm than good if your hair is naturally curly and you’ve heat-styled it to achieve a silk press or straightened style. It’ll cause your hair to revert to its natural state. In this case, opt for one of the methods mentioned earlier.
Now you know four ways to get rid of hat hair without tools or equipment. We hope that these tips are helpful to you in a pinch. Good luck!
