Which Hair Will Suit Me?

Are you looking to do a hairstyle overhaul? Your style choices are numerous, which can be both good and bad. It’s nice to have lots of options, but it also makes choosing a style very difficult. But in the end, you’ll want to select a style that suits you. In this article, we’ll help you do just that.

Hair Colors

Your hair’s color drastically affects how your locks look as a whole. So, it’s very important to get this part right. When selecting a hair color, it’s ideal to consider the following:

  • Skin tone - Often, darker hair colors like dark brown and black often complement deep skin tones. And the reverse is true as well - people with lighter skin tones find that lighter hair colors like blonde and light brown work well.

  • Skin undertones - Your skin’s undertone is the subtle color you see underneath the surface of your skin. It may be either cool, warm, or neutral. To find out which skin undertone you have, look at the veins on the inside of your wrist. They may look cool (blue or purple), warm (gold or olive), or neutral (no discernable color). Warm hair colors like honey blonde or red work well for people with a warm skin undertone. Cooler hair colors, like platinum blonde or blue/black, are ideal for those with cool skin undertones. All hair colors seem to be flattering on those with neutral skin undertones.

  • Your eyes - Dark and golden hair colors usually complement dark-colored eyes. Things change slightly as we get into green and hazel/light brown eyes; lighter hair colors are a great match. Red tones look amazing against green eyes. And, as you might have already observed - blondes and other extremely light hair hues are well suited to blue eyes.

  • Personal style and preferences - Choosing a hair color that suits your style is incredibly important. After choosing a hair color according to the rules above, the result could be a hair color you don’t like personally. The resulting color may also clash with your style. Only use the preceding information as a guide and deviate from it as you please to choose a color you truly like.

Hair Cuts

Before you ever reach for the scissors or walk into a salon, you’ve got to do a little research on your own. The right haircut for you will depend mostly on your face shape. There are six main face shapes in the beauty world:

  • Oval - Go with long layers, a blunt bob, or any other haircut.

  • Diamond - People with diamond face shapes can get away with almost any haircut. But those with mid-length bangs tend to work extremely well.

  • Square - Consider longer haircuts to soften your jawline.

  • Heart - Blunt, narrow bangs, and layers suit this face shape, bringing balance to the face.

  • Round - Long bobs and other long hanging styles work well with round faces, as they elongate the face.

  • Oblong/Rectangle - Longer haircuts and lots of texture help soften the face. Try haircuts that create angles as well.

So, there you have it - helpful information about which hair will suit you. We hope you found all the information you were looking for, and we wish you the best of luck as you choose your next great hairdo!
